Chiropractic adjustments

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems of the body, and the effects of these disorders on general health.

These symptoms include but are not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches. Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors– practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

Chiropractic care is available to men, women and children of all ages, including babies and pregnant women. Some of the benefits of receiving Chiropractic care include improved muscle and joint mobility and stabilization, regulation of the nervous system, improved biomechanics, decreased pain, quicker recovery after injury, re-injury prevention and optimization of health, to name a few.

Chiropractors are primary health care providers who diagnose and treat patients focusing on the nervous, muscular and skeletal systems of the body. Treatment may include spinal and extremity adjusting, physiotherapies, nutrition, including supplementation and diet changes, physical rehabilitation and acupuncture.

The principal therapeutic procedure utilized is the chiropractic adjustment, which is a quick, gentle, hands on motioning of a joint which may be misaligned and or lack proper movement. This is called a subluxation. Subluxations may cause irritation to nerves, muscles and surrounding connective tissue and may manifest as pain or other systemic condition. Restoring proper motion to subluxated joints may regulate the nervous system and allow the body to heal, muscles to relax and alleviate pain. It is important to remember that when you are receiving Chiropractic care, you need to be an active participant in your care which may include postural changes, at home stretching and strengthening, alterations in diet, massage therapy and stress management.

ACUPUNCTURE Therapy

Chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture are both excellent complementary treatments for improving and maintaining your health. At Core Chiropractic & Health, I often use both modalities to treat a variety of symptoms.

Both chiropractic and acupuncture work in ways that empower the body to heal without the use of drugs, surgery or other invasive treatment. Both are also designed to correct imbalances, prompt natural healing and restore a state of health that was formerly impeded.

In many difficult to treat cases, the use of chiropractic care and acupuncture together may be the most efficient treatment method with the fastest results. Acupuncture helps balance the energy meridian system in the body and is also very effective for pain control. Based on your wellness goals, you and Dr. Kampmeier can work together to determine if a combination of Chiropractic and Acupuncture would be a successful treatment program you.

Proven Benefits of Acupuncture:

Increased energy, Stress relief, & Pain reduction

Acupuncture promotes healing through:

• increasing endorphin release to decrease pain and promote the healing response

• reducing muscle spasm by decreasing excitatory brain input to the musculoskeletal system and improving blood flow

• reducing sympathetic nervous system firing to calm the mind and promote balance throughout the body

Qi – the Basis of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

Chinese medical philosophy holds that all life is sustained by the constant flow of an energy called “qi” (pronounced “chee”). The qi of the body is connected to the qi of nature – illness occurs when the two are out of harmony. Acupuncture and Oriental medicine restore health by strengthening the body’s qi and enhancing its flow.

Chinese medical knowledge has been shaped by the experiences of thousands of practitioners over many centuries.

COMPRESSION THERAPY - normatec pulse 2.0

Why NormaTec…

NormaTec uses compressed air to massage your arms, legs or hips. Created by a physician bioengineer (MD, PhD) to enhance blood flow and speed recovery.

NormaTec Pulse Massage Pattern employs three key techniques to maximize your recovery:

PULSING - Enhances movement of fluids and metabolites out of the limbs after a workout.

GRADIENTS - Keeps fluids from being forced in the wrong direction by delivery maximum pressure in every zone with the pulse.

DISTAL RELEASE - Sequential pulse technology releases the hold pressures once they’re no longer needed to prevent backflow, giving each portion of the limb maximal rest time.

Compression may help your body:

Improve flow of blood and lymphatic fluid, boost recovery after exercise &/or injury, improve circulation and healing.

CUPPING MASSAGE THERAPY

Cupping a form of therapy that uses suction and negative pressure to create decompression of your soft tissues and muscles.

Benefits of Cupping:

* relieves sore muscles & aches and pains

* improve blood flow

* relax the nervous system.

Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pain, ease tense muscles, improve healing, reduce scar tissue, and reduce inflammation. Cupping will leave bruise-like marks that can last for days to weeks and varies from person to person. Most marks fade and disappear after a few days.

Sunlighten Infrared Light and Your Body

Because infrared sauna therapy heats the body directly rather than simply warming the air, it raises the core body temperature and produces a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where most toxins reside. In addition, far infrared saunas aid in blood pressure reduction & weight loss, burning up to 600 calories in one session!

Sunlighten's far infrared technology, Solocarbon® heaters, deliver the highest concentration of far infrared heat available, proven 95% effective. You will experience the most detoxifying sweat, lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure and aid in weight loss through waistline reduction. Ultra low EMF technology ensures ultimate safety.

Detox: Sweating is the body’s safe and natural way to heal & stay healthy. Far infrared sauna use causes a rise in core temperature resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where toxins reside.

Lower Blood Pressure: Infrared saunas induce a deep sweat to make the heart pump faster, which in turn increases blood flow, lowers blood pressure and helps circulation. Only Sunlighten saunas are backed by clinical research that shows a reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Both are key factors in maintaining a healthy heart.

Anti-Aging: Near infrared saunas provide the most effective wavelength for healing the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production to reduce wrinkles and improve overall skin tone.

Cell Health: Near infrared sauna therapy stimulates the circulatory system and more fully oxygenates the body’s cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from the cellular level to the skin’s surface to improve cell health, aid in muscle recovery and strengthen the immune system.

Weight Loss: Studies have shown that a far infrared sauna therapy session can burn upwards of 600 calories while you relax! As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories. In fact, a 2009 study showed Sunlighten far infrared therapy to lower weight and waist circumference in just a three-month period.

Relieve Pain: Infrared heat penetrates tissue, joints, and muscles to relieve anything from minor aches and pains to chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, and speeds up recovery time. A 2013 study conducted at the Auburn University at Montgomery showed that Sunlighten 3-in-1 treatments can increase flexibility up to 3x.

Improve Circulation: Sunlighten sauna treatments are like giving your body a passive cardiovascular workout. Heating the muscles with infrared rays produces an increase in blood flow similar to that seen during exercise. Regular infrared sauna use can significantly stimulate blood flow up to twice the normal rate.

Sauna Tips, Recommendations & Requirements:

Session times are 20 or 40 minutes. The sauna comes with a built-in stereo, so you can listen to the radio, CD’s, or plug your MP3 player right into it. Feel free to read a book or magazine, or just sit back and relax. Our sauna also features chromotherapy, or color therapy, which is defined as a system of alternative medicine in which colors and their energy frequencies are used to correct psychological or physical imbalances. A more general definition simply states that chromotherapy is based on the premise that certain colors are infused with healing energies. Choose a color that helps you relax and unwind.

Make sure you are adequately hydrated before, during and after your session. We have a water filtration system outside the sauna room for your convenience.

What should I wear?

The sauna is located in a private room in our office, and sessions are scheduled to allow each guest time to dry off and change after their session. We suggest wearing loose clothes to your sauna session, or at least bringing a change of them to wear afterwards. Some guests choose to wear a towel, a bathing suit, or their undergarments in the sauna. We provide towels to place on the bench seat, backrest and the floor to absorb perspiration and maintain cleanliness of the sauna.

Please remove perfumes, makeup, deodorant, dirt, oils and lotions on your body before entering the sauna. These products can block your pores and limit perspiration, decreasing the effectiveness of your sauna session. Baby wipes are available to use prior to your session to remove all makeup and mascara.

How hot is it?

The temperature of the sauna reaches 140 degrees, but there is a control on the inside for guests to decrease the temperature if necessary. Unlike traditional (hot rock or steam) saunas—which operate at well in excess of 200°F—infrared heat has the benefit of being effective at a more comfortable operating temperature, which is why it’s less likely to interfere with breathing and more likely to be manageable. The experience is similar to lying in the sun on a warm day and feeling the heat radiate to the core of your body. If at any time you feel lightheaded, open the door or vent to quickly cool down.

How often should I use the sauna?

One session will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. But similar to exercise, the more you do it, the better the results. Recommended use is 3-4 times per week.

When will I start sweating?

Sweat levels differentiate between each individual. Don't be surprised if you don't sweat during the first few sessions. Sweating will increase with regular use. Even if your body is not drenched in sweat, your body is still detoxifying from harmful toxins. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water before your session. If you are dehydrated, you will not sweat as much.

Are children allowed to use the sauna?

The core body temperature of children rises much faster than adults. When taking a sauna session, with a child, operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 minutes at a time. A general rule of thumb is 1 minute inside your sauna per year of age for the child, but always accompanied by an adult. And remember to keep you and your children hydrated, even if you don’t see them sweating.
